Ch, ch, challenges!

I miei obiettivi

  • 3, 9, 86, 64, 19, 89, 76, 31, 28, 13

●SHOW YOUR SHELVES SOME LOVE●

Who's hosting?

The  rules

  • Abstain from spending money on books for one calendar year (or follow a monthly book budget).

  • Library books do not count for this challenge. This challenge is mainly for books you already own.

My goals

  • My goal is the Green Belt level (21-30 books).

  • Instead of setting a monthly budget, I decided I will be authorized to buy a book every 4 books read.

●2015 TBR PILE READING CHALLENGE●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  • Any genre, length, or format of book counts as long as it is a book that's been sitting on your self for some time. Short stories and novellas do count! The only stipulations that the book must have been released in 2014 or earlier.

  • There will be two giveaways - July and December. Giveaway details will be explained once the giveaway post goes up. We don't want to overwhelm you with too many details now.

My goals

  • My goal is the First Kiss level (21-30 books) since last year I accomplished the "A friendly hug"level.

●2015 TBR CHALLENGE●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  • To finally read 12 books from your “to be read” pile (within 12 months).

  • Two (2) alternates are allowed, just in case one or two of the books end up in the “can’t get through” pile.

  • Books cannot have a publication date of 1/1/2014 or later.

  • Books must be read and must be reviewed (doesn’t have to be too fancy) in order to count as completed.

  • You can read the books on your list in any order; they do not need to be read in the order you have them listed.

  • Every person who successfully reads his/her 12 books and/or alternates (and who provides a working link to their list, which has links to the review locations) will be entered to win a $50 gift card from Amazon.com or The Book Depository!

  • On the 15th of each month, there'll be a “TBR Pile Check-In.” This will allow participants to link-up their reviews from the past month and get some recognition for their progress. There will also be small mini-challenges and giveaways to go along with these posts.

●NEW AUTHORS CHALLENGE●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  • Since this is an author challenge, there is no restriction on choosing your novels. They can definitely be from other challenges. However, the authors must be new to you and, preferably from novels. Anthologies are a great way to try someone new, but only a third of your new authors can be from short stories/novellas or anthologies.

  • You can pick to do either 15, 25 or 50 new authors. It all depends on how fast you read and how adventurous you want to be. If you reach your goal halfway through the year, don’t stop. Any new author you try can be added to Mr. Linky. We all want to know about your new experience.

My goals and potential books I own for this challenge

  • My goal is to read 15 books from new-to-me authors.

  • Some books I plan on reading:

●I LOVE LIBRARY BOOKS●

Who's hosting?

  • Book Dragon's Lair

The rules

  • Read books you checked out of the library.

My goals

  • My goal is the Board Book level (3 books)

●SNAGGED @ THE LIBRARY●

Who's hosting?

  • Geeky Bloggers

  • The Book Nympho

The rules

  • The goal is to read at least twelve (12) books from the library. Twelve should be easy, that’s one a month. While twelve is the minimum, there is no maximum limit. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you.

  • Any format will work for this challenge (print, ebook or audio) as long as you checked it out from the library it counts.

My goals

  • My goal is the Dewey Decimal level (12 books)

●GRAPHIC NOVELS/MANGA CHALLENGE●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  • You have to read graphic novels, collected trade editions, manga, comic strip collections, comic books. In print or digital. Anything else you feel is suitable. My criteria is if it has either frames OR speech bubbles it counts.

My goals

  • My goal is the Modern Age level (12 books)

●LGBT CHALLENGE●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  •  the LGBT in the challenge’s name does not mean just LGBT, you can read any book that falls under the L(esbian) G(ay) B(isexual) T(ransexual) T(ransgender) Q(ueer) Q(uestioning) I(ntersex) A(sexual)+ spectrum.

  • All formats (print books, ebooks, audiobooks, comics) are eligible.

My goal and books I own that could count for this challenge

  • My goal is the Genre Hopper level (3-10 lgbt books from any genre)

●PREQUEL & SEQUEL CHALLENGE●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  • All books in a series count for points.

  • Novellas count, either prequels or sequels.

  • Books can be of any publication date. They don’t have to be released in 2015.

  • In order to get 10 points for a completed series, there must be at least 3 full-length books in the series.

The point system

For each prequel and sequel read this year, points will be awarded as follows:
-1 point for each prequel or sequel novella read and reviewed
-2 points for each full-length sequel read and reviewed
-10 points for completing and reviewing a full series (doesn’t require novellas)*†
-**You do not get points for the first book in a series
To get points, you must review the book/novella somewhere. If you want to earn points, please link up your reviews at the end of each month, and enter the number of points earned (we will give examples in the linky).  Each point earned is an entry into the giveaway at the end of the year for all participants who completed the challenge.  So, the more sequels you read, the better your chances of winning the giveaway!  Plus, we are also considering one prize for the “overacheiver award” — the person who gets the most points!
If you started the series before 2015, you can still get the bonus points for finishing it if you reviewed the other books in the series at some point. For example: You read The Hunger Games in 2014, but read Catching Fire and Mockingjay in 2015 – you would get 2 points for both sequels and 10 bonus points for finishing the series (14 points total). You don’t have to start the series in 2015 to get the bonus points.

My goal

  • I hope to gain at least 10 points

●READING ROAD TRIP●

Who's hosting?

The rules

  • Read books set in a certain state of the USA or a book that visits a certain state of the USA

  • One book can only count for one state not multiple states like with road trip books. Road Trip Book = One State.

My goal

  • My goal is the Hitchhiker level (10-20 states)
